Diamond Reo heading up the highway throughout the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s was commonplace in Australia. The brand, which was created with the merging of Diamond T and Reo in 1967 faded away with White Motor Corporation closing their manufacturing facility, based in Lansing, Michigan in the United States. The largest Diamond Reo dealer at the time, Loyal Osterlund from Pennsylvania purchased all the stock and continued manufacturing the famous brand in Harrisburg. In 1978 the late Tony Stipanicev from Perth, WA started assembling Diamond Reo’s under arrangements with Osterlund. In the early 1980’s Daysworth International, then operating as the Vodanovich Bro’s continued producing the Diamond Reo Giant’s. The Vodanovich Bro’s Black Diamond Reo Giant was displayed at the Melbourne Truck Show at Sandown Racecourse in 1984. The display of the famous Diamond Reo “the world’s toughest truck” was an impressive unit and caused a stir in the prime mover market.
Over 30 years later the Diamond Reo brand is once again on the Australian trucking landscape with the unveiling of two models earlier at MegaTrans Expo in Melbourne. Diamond Reo is a member of the Daysworth International Group of Companies. It is our philosophy to be a passionate supporter of the logistics industry by providing quality vehicles underpinned by high quality services and support infrastructure.
